Fake events

Fake events are events that have been reported as earthquakes in previous catalogs, but are known by now that they did not happen as described. This may be, for example, unrecognized quarry blasts, or historical events that result from duplication of other earthquakes or interpretation of other events as earthquakes due to tradition errors or misinterpretation of historical sources.

A list of fake events is available for download here. Its main purpose is to prevent fake event from being re-introduces as assumingly "forgotten earthquakes" in subsequent catalog reviews.
